Lena was born in 1939 in Odessa, Ukraine.  Lena's father was David Kobrinsky and her mother was Malka (Manya) Tsudikov Kobrinsky.  Her maternal grandparents were Yudka Tsudikov and Khaya (Clara) Drobachevsky Tsudikov. She had two sisters named Sarra and Mira.  She is the youngest of the three children.
